Alexandria was glowing as approximately 70 cyclists took to the streets for BPAC’s Halloween Decorations Tour group ride on October 30.
The event generated plenty of enthusiasm before riders even rolled out, with all 100 spots reserved on Eventbrite. Participants arrived decked out in costumes and glow lights, creating a colorful procession of bikes through the city. The roughly six-mile route wound through Rosemont and Del Ray, giving riders and unsuspecting pedestrians a chance to enjoy experiencing the neighborhoods together by bike. Donations collected at the event helped Trek Bicycles South surpass their goal of 300 lbs of food for ALIVE! Food Hub.
Events like this are a great reminder that getting around Alexandria on two wheels can also simply be fun. Whether riders came for the costumes, the decorations, the community, or the chance for an evening ride, they helped make the night one to remember while supporting charitable efforts.
A huge thank you to BPAC and Alexandria Bike Buses for spreading the word and joining the festivities, and to everyone who came out and made the ride such a success.
Until next Halloween, keep the lights on and the wheels turning!
