Due to the resignation of Councilman Kirk McPike, there will be a vacancy on the City Council and a special election will soon be announced.
The Alexandria Democratic Committee will host a firehouse primary on Saturday, February 21 to nominate a candidate. The Alexandria Republican City Committee has not yet announced a candidate.
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is a registered non-profit and does not endorse candidates. As such, we invite all candidates to respond to our questionnaire and will paste their responses as we receive them.
2/18/26 Update: During the Alexandria Federation of Civic Associations candidate forum, Cesar Madison Tapia, Charles Sumpter and Roberto Gomez withdrew their support from Braddock Rd Complete Streets project. Sandy Marks and Tim Laderach affirmed their support for the project.
