BPAC celebrates the holiday spirit

Eight-foot candy canes, lit-up flamingos, Santa dinosaurs, a giant holiday card wishing everyone Happy Sloth-idays, trees festooned with more lights than leaves, balls of light suspended in tree branches, and a synchronized LED light show — these were just a few of the decorations we saw on the fourteenth annual Alexandria holiday lights ride + walk on December 13 and 14. About seventy riders and forty walkers (and two very good dogs!) oohed and aahed, made memories, and delighted in the creativity, colors, and holiday spirit in Del Ray.

If you’d like to bike or walk the routes on your own, the biking route is here, and the walking route is here.

Here are a few photos from the rides and walks, courtesy of Randy Cole and Josephine Liu:

Thanks to all of the participants, the residents who put up such wonderful holiday decorations, the people who cheered us on as the groups walked or biked by, and especially the volunteers who kept this tradition going strong for another year. Happy holidays to all.
