Scott Binde- a local cycling legend’s death and legacy

Scott Binde and Alexandria Old Town resident and one of the founders of Outriders- a meetup group of local LGBTQ+ cyclists was killed Saturday afternoon while doing a Cacoctin Mountain Ride just outside Fredrick Maryland. He was struck by an SUV and died at the scene. He was with two of his Outrider friends on that ride.  Scott, a great guy recently retired and used his bike as his sole transportation for most of his life! 

Two memorial rides are planned in his honor.  

Thursday 6 Jun, 6:15 PM Smithsonian Metro Station.  There will be a memorial ride with Outriders this Thursday evening at 6:15 PM from Smithsonian Metro Station ** on the National Mall to Old Town Alexandria where we will do a brief memorial service to him, and then head over to one of his favorite restaurants Lena’s to share our many stories of Scott. **If you don’t want to ride from Smithsonian, plan to be at the intersection of West St and Queen St at around 7:15 and then ride to Lena’s between 7:45 and 8:00.
