2020 Rides

We hosted five rides in 2020, despite the challenges associated with the pandemic. Have suggestions for 2021 rides? Contact us!

Women’s History Ride: We had originally planned a ride on Saturday, March 21 to celebrate women’s history month. Due to covid-19, the ride was postponed until Saturday, August 15. See the ride recap and photos here. If you would like to do a self-guided version of the women’s history ride, we’ve posted a guide to the route and stops. We encourage you to do this ride at your own time and pace, and we hope you enjoy learning about some of the trailblazing women who helped shape Alexandria’s history.

Public Art Ride: On Saturday, September 19, BPAC organized another socially distanced ride to visit some of Alexandria’s public art. See the ride recap and photos here. If you would like to do a self-guided version of the public art ride, a guide to the route and stops is available here. We hope you learn something interesting about a few of the City’s new and interesting sculptures, statues, murals, and fountains.

Halloween Ride: On Saturday, October 31, we rode in small groups to see skeletons playing ping pong, a skull bubbling away inside an aquarium, inflatable dragons, a witches’ coven, dancing disco skeletons on the No Souls Train, and other spectacularly spooky Halloween decorations in Del Ray. See the ride recap and photos here.

Veterans’ Memorials Ride: On Sunday, November 22, we hosted a socially distanced ride to visit some of Alexandria’s memorials to veterans. See the ride recap and photos here. If you would like to do a self-guided version, the ride guide available here has information about the route and the nine stops along the way.

Holiday Lights Ride + Walk: On December 12-13, BPAC and the Alexandria Spokeswomen hosted the tenth annual ride to see Del Ray’s festive holiday lights. We also added a new walking option, which proved popular with families and kids in strollers. See the event recap and photos here. If you would like to do a self-guided version, the walking and biking routes are available here.
